Copenhagen Phil have an open position for a Low Horn (100%)

The section of Copenhagen Phil consists of one Principal Horn (section leader), one Associate Principal Horn, one 3rd Horn and two Low Horns.

The Audition will take place: Dec. 3rd from 10AM at: Konservatoriets Koncertsal, Rosenørns Alle 22, 1970 Frederiksberg, Denmark.

Some candidates might be invited to a preround that takes place on Dec. 2nd 2023.

1st round:
H. Neuling: Bagatelle
Orchestral excerpts: L.V. Beethoven: Fidelio Ouverture

2nd round:
W. A. Mozart: Horn Concerto no. 2 in E-flat major, K.417; 1st & 2nd Mov.

3rd round:
Orchestral excerpts

4th Round (Optional)
Orchestral excerpts with the section

Candidates must be prepared to submit a ‘youtube link’ with: W. A. Mozart: Horn Concerto no. 2 in E-flat major, K.417; 1st mov. until bar 63 & orchestral excerpts Haydn symphony no. 31 & Shostakovich symphony no. 5
All excerpts and the obligated piece must be recorded in one take.

An accompanist will be available at the audition. Applicants are responsible for expenses in connection with both travel and rehearsal.

Salary and conditions of employments negotiable with current agreement for musicians in the Danish Regional Orchestras (‘LandsdelsOrkestrene’). Employment of non-EU residents is contingent upon the attainment of a valid work and residence permit. Applicants are responsible for expenses incurred in the attainment of such permits.

Copenhagen Phil consists of 67 musicians and has two 1st Concert Masters.

1st, 2nd & 3rd round: Dec 4th 2023 from 10AM at ’Musikhuset København’, Vesterbrogade 59, Copenhagen

4th round w. orchestra: Dec 5th 2023 from 12-14 at Konservatoriets Koncertsal, Rosenørns Alle 22, Frederiksberg

REPERTOIRE

1st round:
• Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3,4 or 5; 1st Mov. w. Cadenza 

• Orchestral Excerpts: 

  • Mozart: 4th Mov. from Symphony No.39 in E-flat major, K.543
  • R. Strauss: Don Juan, Op.20

2nd round:
• 1st Mov. from one of the following Violin Concertos: Brahms, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Sibelius or Nielsen

• Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3,4 or 5; 2nd Mov. w. Cadenza

• Orchestral excerpts

3rd round:
• String Quartet session with other group leaders

4th round:
• Orchestral excerpts w. the orchestra

Second Solo Trumpet (100%)

The trumpet section consists of one Principal Trumpet (section leader), one Associate Principal Trumpet and one Second Solo Trumpet.

1st–3rd round will be held on October 29th 2023 from 10AM at ‘Studiescenen‘, Rosenørns Alle 22, 1970 Frederiksberg, DK

REPERTOIRE

1st round:
Haydn: Trumpet Concerto E-flat major, Hob.VIIe:1; 1. Mov. until bar 113, (without cadenza) & 2nd Mov. (Bb trumpet only)

2nd round:
Charlier: 12 Étude Moderne from ‘36 Études transcendantes’ (C trumpet only)
Lumbye: ’Livjægerne på Amager’
Mahler: Blumine

3rd round:
Orchestral excerpts

Candidates must be prepared to submit a ‘youtube link’ with the 2nd round repertoire. All excerpts and the obligated piece must be recorded in one take.
